Java is a very effective programming language, with a huge community behind it. A language like Scala on the other hand implements functional programming principles that - for instance - allow developers to avoid null pointer exceptions. However, a commonly heard complaint is that it’s hard to learn. Kotlin marries the two advantages without becoming a hard to learn language and its adoption is going really well. Google has even announced that Kotlin is the main language for developing Android applications. Kotlin is here to stay and this workshop is an excellent starting point to get started with it.

The participants are expected to bring a laptop.
